Part 2 of our exclusive feature with 2014 Drag Idol Winner LoUis CYfer (read part one here) by Missy Downgirl
Missy Downgirl (MD): So Lucy has LoUis taken over your life now?
LoUisCYfer (LC): Me and LoUis share the floor space however it seems more often than not the floor space is now the stage. But that's ok, I say everyone should get their 15 minutes.
MD: How many hours does it take to become LoUis?
LC: How many hours are in 26 years and 3 months?
MD: Are girls shocked when you tell them your a drag king? And what has been the most surprising reactions good and bad?
LC: I was talking about this just the other day to my drag mum Tanya Hyde. I have never felt any prejudice from any girls in fact they seem to love it, but I think that sometimes they forget that LoUis is made of cous cous and not another c word.
MD: How have you found the new drag king fame? Are you enjoying all the female attention?
LC: I'm famous? Is that why I have to give an Australian a percentage every time I leave soho?
MD: What's your ideal woman? Bar me obviously lol
LC: Vanity Von Glow thinks it's her, but since I caught you copping off with her I'll have to pick another elegant sophisticated lady. So I'm gonna have to say Baga Chipz.
MD: What's your fave three things to do that don't involve LoUis in anyway?
LC: Wearing a bra, letting my hair down and sitting with my legs crossed.
MD: How did you feel to headline Downgirls on Friday? Was it different to performing other more male orientated nights?
LC: When I'm there every night is male orientated.
MD: If you weren't a drag idol winner what would you be doing instead?
LC: Umm let me think, I would probably be.....in fact no I would definitely be a drag idol runner up.
MD: Do me more people recognise you as Lucy or LoUis? And how do you feel about this?
LC: The important thing here to remember is being recognised at all for doing something I love (being LoUis or being myself) by anyone or everyone is absoLoUis fabuLoUis. It's not about how I feel, it's about how they felt. So long as they were entertained and they enjoyed their night, I'm ecstatic.
MD: Is there anyone that hasn't been as supportive to you that
has surprised you? How has it made you feel?
LC: Yes there has.
MD: Is there anyone that has supported you and you never expected it?
LC: Yes there has.
MD: Is it harder to trust people you meet now?
LC: No it's just as difficult.
MD: And finally do you prefer Missy as LoUis or as Lucy, I'm allowed to ask one personal question surely... Hahaha!
LC: I prefer Missy when I'm LoUis because she always gives me money and jagermeister....which is nice.
When Missy Downgirl from DowngirlsNW1 called us to say she had an exclusive interview from Drag Idol winner LoUis CYfer Aka Lucy Jane Parkinson, we knew it wasn't going to be a standard interview and article ...
Well... What a year it has been for LoUis CYfer defying all odds and winning this year's Drag Idol competition. Myself and Mister Downgirl have met a lot of queens in our time and for me personally... I knew the moment I met LoUis CYfer aka Lucy she was going to be the one to win.
The night before Pride 2014, LoUis came to party with me at my night DowngirlsNW1 and I said without any fear and I meant every word... "You're gonna win Drag Idol and you're gonna come to my next night as a King and inspire all women out there to follow there dreams".
I don't expect LoUis to remember this conversation or Lucy as I think it was around this point we were being treated to syringes of cranberry and vodka juice from Ruby Fortune. We agreed to meet for Pride.
After marching with Planet London for Pride I went and met LoUis and got invited to her home and met her Admiral Duncan family.
At one point LoUis said to everyone in the room ( I can't name them for legal reasons and some are so famous I may get sued ;) ) "did any of us expect to be spending Pride together and did we all expect that it would be this collective, in this room, right now?"
The simple answer was NO! But that's what made this Pride so brilliant. I got taken by a demanding Sherrif to Molly Moggs and he handed his CD over. I could tell that the venue thought it was just a hot man wanting a go. But the minute LoUis CYfer started performing everyone noticed and everyone stood to attention.
When LoUis revealed he was actually a she, the crowd went mental and everyone rose to their feet. We left immediately after the performance ...
(There weresome cocktails with our name on them at Bar Titania and my now infamous cocktail #mingetwinge)
I then spent some time getting to know the both LoUis and Lucy. After several million shots I watched LoUis perform at the Admiral Duncan and caught it all on camera. I knew this Sherriff of Soho was going to win Drag Idol and put Drag Kings on the map like never before.
On Friday night at the Two Brewers, Clapham, LoUis CYfer was crowned the winner. Lucy became the first ever drag king to do so. I caught up with LoUis CYfer the next morning and was granted an exclusive interview.
Missy Downgirl (MD): How does it feel to defy all critics and haters and be the first EVER Drag King to win Drag Idol?
LoUis CYfer (LC):It feels fabuLoUis
MD:Did you ever think you could really win?
LC: For a moment I did then I realized how fantastic everyone in this competition was and had to calm down a little
MD: I spent most of Pride day with you and saw some of the jibes you got for being a drag king, and also the presumptions people made, do you think winning will change this?
LC: I think winning will open up more channels for me to attack !! I feel it's my chance to cut down the weeds of integration and leave a clean path for other kings and princes to rise!
MD: Explain how it felt to win last night in 5 words.
LC: AbsoLoUis fabuLoUis, I am asleep no?
MD: Are you nervous to be performing at DowngirlsNW1?
LC: No bring on that vanity von hoe!!!! Kings will for sure triumph !!
MD: I've been lucky to feel the cous cous cock... Now you've won will you cook it for a celebratory dinner? If so can Missy Downgirl come?
LC: I will be serving that shit with some green bean realness bring all you veggie mates !!!
MD: Do you wish more women would enter the world of the drag king?
LC: I wish more would enter to build up this scene but the most important thing is for them to train hard first and let go of any hang ups that is making them come across as disengaged and unprofessional. A lot of the kings I see just don't take it seriously enough. Some think acting like a pig that objectifies women is what a man is and that boils my piss! It's not true. I have learned Men and women are equally as emotional. This to me is an art. I think about every last detail even the shaping of my cous cous cock must occasionally be rearranged just to give off the impression I am male.
MD: Is it becoming hard to separate LoUis from the woman underneath the sherriffs hat?
LC: Not at all me and LoUis are two totally different people ... He knows I'm in charge ! It's hard to find time to be able to take a deep breathe what with the binding etc but he will never be me (more of the woman behind the hat soon)
MD: Could I, Missy Downgirl be a drag king for the night? Do you go for kings or queens as LoUis?
LC: Of course u could !!! And I go for whoever is most sassy on the night ;) but I'm not bothered about anyone right now
MD: If you could do anything in the next year... And I mean anything and with anyone.. What would it be?
LC: It would be to break the mainstream with my drag act and inspire others while I pave the way for many to follow ...
You can catch part 2 of this interview with Me Missy Downgirl getting to know the woman behind the hat.
If you haven't heard already I am lucky enough to have King LoUis CYfer performing my next DowngirlsNW1 night this Friday. Be sure to come and support this star and prepare for a few surprises...
Here's a sneaky pic of my next installment... "I asked LoUis to transform into Lucy to wear the Planet London Tshirt I wore to march in... until next time Missy Downgirl and LoUis CYfer want to say thank you to Planet London for supporting us and for supporting LBQ women in London."

| Missy & Vanity Von Glow |
Whilst Downgirls is a night for women and aimed at women, Missy Downgirl makes no secret of her desire to see a community rebuilt and a space where everyone LGBTQ can party together. She even goes as far as saying she has witnessed more homophobia between gays and lesbians than in the whole of the wider community and that in order for things to really move on there needs to be a night that is truly mixed. Not just a handful of women in a corner. Missy Downgirl is pleased that the last few nights have attracted such a high number of LBQ women, and has advised the make up of each night has been 70/30 female to male, and in a 300 capacity venue this is somewhat unheard of.
Missy Downgirl insists the night is a Queer night and everyone who is a Downgirl is welcome, female, male or somewhere in between.
Missy Downgirl and Downgirls have decided put their money where their mouth is, and have got two popular DJs on the women’s scene, DJ Claire Chambers (Bijou, Bridge Girls) and DJ Chillz (Bootilicious, Lush) to play the very best in commercial dance and hip hop and RNB with a Kings and Queens twist.
